This biking vacation in Italy will take you form the mountains of the Dolomites on easy paths and roads with light traffic and little hills across Lake Garda by ferry and onto the fabulous city of Venice. This cycle tour is a level 2 self guided cycling holiday. On this tour you will have the chance to visit the mountains around Bolzano, the beauty of lake Garda glistening like a gem surrounded by green clad mountains, cities full of culture and history like Verona, Vicenza and Padova and, last but not least, fascinating Venice , the city in the sea.

Level 2 self guided cycle tour
Day 1 Bolzano.
Arrival to Bolzano in the heart of the Italian Dolomite mountains. A bilingual city Bolzano is a famous commercial and touristic centre and also a historical and cultural connection between the Italian and the German world.
Day 2 Bolzano to Trento 42.5 miles 68 km.
Today you will ride mostly along the Adige River, through orchards and vineyards passing the villages of Ora, Egna and Salorno. The dam pathways lead then to Trento. Once in the ancient city of Trento visit the famous old town of Trento with the dome and castle Buonconsiglio.
Day 3 Trento–Peschiera/ Desenzano/Bardolino 31 miles 50 km + boat.
Today you are always pedaling along the River Adige cycle paths until you reach Rovereto and Mori. From here westwards towards Lake Garda you cycle. Af ter a short climb, a refreshing descent will follow and lead you to Torbole and to Riva. Here a 4 hour ferry cruise takes you to the southern part of the lake where the accommodation depends on the availability of the hotels.
Day 4 Peschiera/Desenzano/ Bardolino–Verona 31 miles 50 km.
Today you cycle eastwards to Verona which is one of the most important and beautiful cities of the Veneto region. Once in Verona it is worth visiting the Roman Arena, the church of San Zeno and Julia’s House all important landmarks in this vibrant city.
Day 5 Verona–Vicenza 46 miles 75 km or 25 miles 40 km.
Today at first, the route starts out flat and then heads through the Monti Berici, a hilly region just south of Vicenza, with a wonderful view of the city. The old city centre is characterized by the beautiful private palaces and public buildings by Andrea Palladio, the famous 16th century architect known all over the world. This stage can also be reduced by taking a train from Verona to San Bonifacio (approx. 30 km). Train tickets not included.
Day 6 Vicenza–Abano/ Montegrotto/Padova 31 miles 50 km.
Cycling out of Vicenza you will come across the beautiful Palladian Villa Rotonda. Along the Bacchiglione, the route will continue to Abano Terme/ Montegrotto, one of Italy’s famous spas. You then carry on with your tour to Padova.
Day 7 Abano/Montegrotto/ Padova–Mestre/Venice 25 miles 40 km.
The tour continues easily through the flat Veneto region. You will cycle along the Brenta Canal, overlooked by the once countryside villas of the Venetian nobility (Villa Pisani, Malcontenta, Villa Widmann) until you reach Mestre, Venice’s mainland. You can chose to stay in Venice with a price supplement.
Day 8 Departure.
