This cycle tour is a level 2 self guided cycle tour. The northwest of Sardinia known as the Costa Smeralda is one of the most beautiful in Sardinia if not Europe. An abundance of small little Islands scattered off the coast. You then cycle west inland and also touching the coastline to Alghero one of the nicest towns on Sardinia. Staying in lovely 3 star family run hotels you shall for certain experience the true Sardinia way of life.

Day 1 Arrival to Olbia in Sardinia
Fly to Olbia airport the closest to your start town and to Cannigione.

DAY 2 Costa Smeralda loop  25 miles 40 km
Discover the beauties of the fabled Costa Smeralda when the millionaires are away! Ride through Cannigione to Arzachena up the into the hills of San Pantaleo and back down to Porto Cervo, Baia Sardinia. Today you shall pass some stunning costal scenes which make this corner of Sardinia so famous for Italian’s.

DAY 3 La Maddalena archipelago loop 34 miles 55 km
From Cannigione along the coast to Palau, where you take the ferry to the vibrant town of La Maddalena, The you cycle across the bridge to Caprera, home of the Garibaldi museum and back through Palau to Cannigione.

DAY 4 Cannigione – Tempio Pausania 34 miles 55 km
Today your cycle tour  ventures inland to Arzachena and up into the hills and lakes of Sant’Antonio di Gallura, and on to Calangianus and Nuchis and finally up to Tempio Pausania.

DAY 5 Tempio Pausania – Castelsardo  34 miles 55 km
Today you shall first cycle from Tempio Pausania to Aggius, passing through the dramatic stone formation of the Valley of the moon. Then it is sweeping back to the coast to your accommodation in Castelsardo.

DAY 6 Castelsardo – Sassari 34 miles 55 km
Today you will ride along the coast to Lu Bagnu before you then head inland again to Nulvi and Osilo, You shall enjoy the spectacular views of the Anglona rolling hills and pastures. Eventually you will end your ride in the city of Sassari, which is the second largest in Sardinia.

DAY 7 Sassari– Alghero 25 miles 40 km
Today from Sassari your ride will take you along the back roads to reach the fortified town of Alghero, Alghero is probably the nicest town in Sardinia and final destination of your trip.

Day 8 Departure Day
Departure after breakfast.

How to get there
By Plane
To Olbia airport. The by taxi to first accommodation or request a private transfer.
Olbia - Cannigione: € 30 per person (minimum 2 persons)
Alghero – Olbia € 75 (minimum 2 persons)
You can also travel Alghero-Olbia by train at the end of the holiday.
